Doris Barbiche-Thorsen

My name is Dars Barbiche-Thorsen. I live in Ringoes, New Jersey with my husband Bob. Bob is a local builder. I have two children, a daughter and son. My daughter lives in Burbank, California with her husband and two beautiful children. She was a teacher for 12 years and her husband is an animator. He has animated for Disney and my grandson was a production baby for the movie Encanto.  My son lives in Ringoes too. I am proud to share that he is a brave, compassionate, and dedicated NJ State Trooper.

I earned a BA from Centenary College and served as a teacher or teacher assistant in Preschool and Kindergarten for more than 20 years. I have worked in private and public schools. I believe children learn, grow, and thrive by actively engaging with their environment. The classroom environment should be friendly, joyful, nurturing, and safe. Learning should be promoted through a variety of activities and centers. I also believe that education is a partnership between teachers and families.

When I am not busy teaching. I enjoy the beach, cooking, reading, walking, and spending time with my family and friends.
